Today, The Isle of Wight Festival 2018 announces 23 new acts to be added to the bill: Camila Cabello, Manic Street Preachers, Chase & Status, Nile Rodgers & CHIC, Haçienda Classiçal, Rita Ora, Jessie J, Kodaline, Soul II Soul, Feeder, Circa Waves, Sheryl Crow, Tom Grennan, Walking on Cars, The Skids, Louise, Ten Tonnes, Tokio Myers, The Professionals, Get Cape.Wear Cape.Fly, Rothwell, Judas, Catherine McGrath.
They join headliners Depeche Mode, The Killers, Kasabian, Liam Gallagher as well as The Script, Van Morrison, James Bay and Blossoms who will also be playing across the weekend.
In honour of the festival’s ‘Golden Jubilee’, all attendees are invited on Saturday 23rd June to adorn themselves in gold for a weekend of fun and celebration. Expect to see sparkling divas, shining stars and victorious gladiators come together for this year’s 50th anniversary.
Pop sensation Camila Cabello’s international smash hit “Havana” logged five weeks at UK #1, becoming the longest-running female number one single since Adele’s “Someone Like You”. “Havana” followed huge singles “Crying In The Club” and the Machine Gun Kelly collaboration, “Bad Things”. New single “Never Be The Same” has already hit the UK Official Charts Top 10 and continues to climb. Her recently released critically-acclaimed self-titled debut solo album ‘Camila’ broke records as it peaked at #1 on iTunes in 99 countries, entering the UK album chart at #2.
Manic Street Preachers emerged in 1991 and have since released 12 studio albums, which include ‘This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours’, ‘Everything Must Go’ and ‘Generation Terrorists’. The band have recently announced their 13th studio album ‘Resistance is Futile’, out April 13th.
Chase and Status (Will Kennard, Saul Milton and MC Rage) are one of the most successful British bands of the past decade. They have released four studio albums to date including the ground-breaking debut ‘More Than A Lot’ and double platinum-selling sophomore ‘No More Idols’. Third album ‘Brand New Machine’ debuted at no. 2 in the album charts and was followed by last year’s top ten album ‘Tribe’.
Sonic innovators Nile Rodgers and CHIC will wow crowds with renditions of iconic party anthems such as ‘Le Freak’, ‘Good Times’ and ‘Everybody Dance’. Nile’s work with the CHIC Organization and his productions for artists like David Bowie and Madonna have sold over 200 million albums and 50 million singles worldwide.
Playing to some 200,000 people in some 30 concerts in the past two years by the time they reach the Isle Of Wight, the widely acclaimed Haçienda Classiçal sees the club’s original DJ partnership, Graeme Park and Mike Pickering reinterpret seminal dance classics from the hugely influential Manchester club with the city’s Manchester Camerata orchestra.
Peter Hook from Haçienda Classiçal said: “The journey Hacienda Classical has been on since its very first concerts in Manchester in February 2016 has been incredible. The reactions have been amazing and have far surpassed anything we could ever have imagined when we started out. Now to be invited to perform and to celebrate the Isle Of Wight’ Festivals 50th anniversary shows how far we’ve come in a such a short space of time.”
Pop superstar Rita Ora rose to prominence in 2012 and with four BRIT award nominations, eleven top ten singles and Number One platinum-selling debut album under her belt has gone on to cement herself as one of the most successful UK pop acts of the last decade.
The multiplatinum, London-born songstress Jessie J came to prominence with her 2010 debut single, ‘Do it Like a Dude’, before going on to win the prestigious BRITs Critics Choice award. Since then Jessie J has gone on to sell over 16 million records worldwide.
Kodaline released their platinum selling debut album, ‘In a Perfect World’, in 2013 and followed it up with the Top 5 UK Album ‘Coming Up For Air’ in 2015. More recently the band released the acclaimed single ‘Brother’ last summer and have played sold out shows across the world including to over 40,000 at their homecoming show at Marlay Park in the summer of 2017.
Kodaline said: “We’re so excited to be playing such an awesome festival! This will be our third time performing at Isle of Wight festival and we can’t wait. Some of our favourite artists ever have played on those stages so we’re honoured to join them! Looking forward to playing some new music for everyone!”
British musical group Soul II Soul formed in London and are best known for their 1989 UK chart-topper hit ‘Back to Life (However Do You Want Me)’, and ‘Keep On Movin’. The group have since won two GRAMMY Awards, and been nominated for five BRIT Awards – twice for Best British Group.
Soul II Soul said: “We’re thrilled to be playing the Isle of Wight festival 2018! It’s a real honor to play one of the biggest festivals of the summer.”
With eight studio albums, three compilations, two EPs and 34 singles under their belt, Welsh rockers Feeder are now bringing their heavy guitars and sugar sweet melodies to the festival. With hit singles including ‘Buck Rogers’, ‘Just The Way I’m Feeling’ and ‘Comfort in Sound’ the crowds will certainly be out for their set in June.
Feeder said: “We headlined the big top in 2016 after almost a four year hiatus and the atmosphere was electric. It’s great to be invited back, especially with it being the 50th Anniversary year. IOW has always been one of our favourite UK festivals to play and this year’s line-up is a cracker. See you there!”
Liverpool quartet Circa Waves released their debut album ‘Young Chasers’ in 2014 which saw the band’s popularity and profile rise over a meteoric six months, culminating in a sold out Brixton Academy show. This was followed by their recent second album ‘Different Creatures’ featuring the massive ‘Fire That Burns’ and another sold out UK tour.
International singer, songwriter and actress, Sheryl Crow has released ten studio albums, four compilations, a live album, and has contributed to a number of film soundtracks. Sheryl has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide and has garnered nine GRAMMY Awards, out of an incredible 32 nominations.
Born in Bedford but based in London, 22yr old Tom Grennan first found fame as the guest vocalist on Chase & Status’ track ‘When It All Goes Wrong’. Tom has since had three Hottest Record’s – ‘Found What Ive Been Looking For’, ‘Royal Highness’ and new single ‘Sober’on Annie Mac’s Radio 1 Show, he also performed in the Radio 1 Live Lounge, on BBC Two’s ‘Later… with Jools Holland’ and new the BBC’s new show ‘sounds like friday night’
Alternative Irish group Walking on Cars released their debut album ‘Everything This Way’ in 2016 and the record has since reached No.1 in Ireland, Top 5 in seven countries and Top 20 in a further twenty-three on the iTunes charts making the band amongst the top selling British signed breakthrough acts of the last 2 years, selling over 250,000 albums worldwide and going double platinum in Ireland, with hit single ‘Speeding Cars’ having had huge 50 million Spotify streams worldwide so far.
Walking On Cars said: “This will be our first time playing Isle of Wight Festival and we can’t wait! So many iconic bands and artists have played it over the years, it’s really exciting to be a part of it this year.”
1977 anarchy lives on as Richard Jobson’s legendary Scottish punk band The Skids. Best known for their 1979 top ten hit ‘Into The Valley’, they became a major influence on later bands like Green Day and Manic Street Preachers. The band celebrated their 40th anniversary in 2017 by releasing ‘Burning Cities’, their first new album in 35 years.
Louise is one of the UK’s most successful female recording artists of all time, and with a body of work spanning nearly 25 years, Louise will be revisiting some of her biggest hits including the R&B-tinged ‘One Kiss from Heaven’, power-anthem ‘Naked’, classic tracks from her time in Eternal, as well as some of her favourite covers.
Louise said: “I’m so thrilled to be playing at the Isle of Wight festival! It’s already been an incredibly exciting year for me, being back in the studio writing and recording new music. I can’t wait to hit that stage and it’s an honour to be sharing the bill with some truly amazing artists.”
21 year old indie artist Ten Tonnes shot to attention with the self-release of his debut EP ‘Lucy’ which attracted the attention of BBC Radio 1. The release of his second EP ‘ Born To Lose’ along with his high energy live performance have earned him continuing support; including a live Maida Vale session with Huw Stevens, as well as plays from Jo Whiley (Radio 2), John Kennedy (Radio X), BBC 6Music and KCRW. His new single ‘Lay It On Me’ is out now.
Tokio Myers became a sensation when more than ten million people tuned in to watch him be crowned as the winner of the 12th series of ITV’s show, Britain’s Got Talent. Since then the Londoner has been writing and recording in the studio and his debut album ‘Our Generation’, a fusion of cinematic and percussive sounds, reached #4 in the official UK charts. Tokio embarks on his UK & Ireland Tour April 2018.

The Professionals were formed in 1979 from the ashes of the Sex Pistols, but split just 3 years later. In 2017 the band reformed spearheaded by Paul Cook and featuring Paul Myers (Subway Sect), Tom Spencer (The Yo Yos) and Chris McCormack (3 Colours Red). ‘What in the World’ marked their first new album in 35 years when it was released in October 2017, to much acclaim from fans and critics alike.
A veteran at the age of 32, Sam Duckworth is back as Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly, returning after a brief hiatus. With 4 top 40 singles and 2 top 40 albums under his belt, Duckworth is back with his mix of folktronica and politics, with new album Young Adult.
Sam Duckworth said: “IOW is a legendary festival, one steeped in historic performances and its line ups have acted as a who’s who of the greats. It’s because of this history that it’s always been on my wish list of festivals to play. It’s a great honour and privilege to be making my IOW debut this year.”
Rothwell has been championed by fellow musicians and tastemakers Annie Mac and MistaJam. She has supported the likes of Justin Bieber on his Purpose UK tour and has also had global brand-backing from MAC and Levi’s. Recently claimed by Metro as the “up-and-coming star”, her latest single Velvet Heart showcases Rothwell’s rich and distinctive vocals against cool and catchy electronic beats sure to get hearts beating.
Rothwell said: “I’m so excited for Isle of Wight festival! It’s madness being on the bill with some massive legends. Get me to the Isle!”
British Four piece Judas have quickly managed to gain a reputation as one of the best new emerging rock and roll bands in the UK, with a fearsome live reputation to boot. Led by charismatic frontman and chief songwriter John Clancy, having previously gigged with indie heavyweights such as The View, Catfish & The Bottlemen and The Mystery Jets, he has certainly picked up their knack for writing bona fide indie anthems.
Catherine McGrath is an Irish singer and songwriter whose music blends fresh-faced pop music with influences straight outta Nashville. In the summer of 2016, McGrath, then only 19, landed a recording contract with Warner Bros. Records, and in 2017 she released a string of tracks, securing 9 consecutive New Music Friday Spotify placements. Hotly tipped by The Independent, Music Week, The Sun and The Times, McGrath is now set to release her debut album in spring this year.
The Isle of Wight Festival takes place from 21st – 24th June at Seaclose Park, Newport. This year will also mark the 50th Anniversary of the Isle of Wight Festival. The first event in 1968 put the festival on the map as it then grew to become world renowned for iconic performances from artists such as The Doors, The Who and Jimi Hendrix in his last ever UK show. The festival was successfully relaunched in 2002 to become one of the most exciting weekends of the summer, continuing to build on its proud heritage with show-stopping headliners such as Foo Fighters, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Jay-Z, Coldplay and Fleetwood Mac.
