STONE BROKEN PREMIERE “HEARTBEAT AWAY” VIDEO VIA KERRANG!
SECOND STUDIO ALBUM AIN’T ALWAYS EASY OUT APRIL 13
U.S. TOUR SET FOR MARCH/APRIL 2018
Stone Broken tackle the sensitive issue of domestic abuse head on with the release of a rousing narrative and performance video for current single “Heartbeat Away.” The video, premiered exclusively with Kerrang!, appears on the band’s forthcoming second studio album, Ain’t Always Easy, set for release on April 13.
The track resonates deeply for the band – depicting the all-too-familiar story of a woman in a violent relationship; a young man, living next door, frequently hears the hostility but isn’t sure what best to do.
Singer Rich Moss says, “The subject of ‘Heartbeat Away’ is a little closer to home than most of the other songs I have written… seeing the impact that domestic violence has on a person you are close to and the way it affects the people around them isn’t a very nice thing to experience. I thought it was time to shine a light on something that usually happens behind closed doors, hidden away from the rest of the world. When people listen to this song, I think they will know that it’s personal and that I mean every word.”

THE LEGENDARY IHSAHN TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM ÀMR ON MAY 4
WATCH NEW VIDEO FOR “ARCANA IMPERII”
IHSAHN, one of Norway’s most pioneering musical legends, has unveiled details of his upcoming studio album Àmr . The nine-track long-player will be released via Candlelight/Spinefarm on May 4, 2018. Pre-orders are now live.
The first track to be made available from the album is “Arcana Imperii,” which features a guitar solo by Opeth’s Fredrik Åkesson. Watch the video and listen HERE.
“As with previous albums, I’ve tried to maintain a certain diversity throughout Àmr, with every track having a somewhat individual identity,” the artist said, “So, as a first introduction, I felt “Arcana Imperii’ contained several key elements from the whole album and was a logical choice as first single and video.”
Drawing from a rich pool of influences and utilizing a wide range of instruments, Ihsahn has created a dark and brooding masterpiece of an album. Àmr possesses its own unique atmosphere; a palpable sense of tension and unease that infuses even the album’s most melodic moments with heightened drama and otherworldly menace.
Although as dark and intense as anything he has conjured before, both the depth of sonic texture and the clarity of his overarching vision are more impressive than ever.
Opting to eschew string arrangements and orchestration in favour of synthesisers, Àmr strides boldly into uncharted territory yet retains Ihsahn’s signature high level skill and off-the-scale quality. Drenched in evocative synths and brimming with skewed but irresistible riffs, Àmr is both Ihsahn’s most accessible record to date and his most extreme departure from his black metal roots.
Whilst he is something of a musical polymath, Ihsahn was joined on the recording of Àmr by Tobias Ørnes Andersen who provided drums and percussion.
Àmr was recorded at his own Mnemosyne Studio, except for drum recordings, which were done at Sonic Attic Studios. Mixing was handled by Fascination Street Studios, in the capable hands of the talented Linus Corneliusson. Mastering was once again done by Jens Bogren.
The record will be available on CD, 2xLP gatefold vinyl, and digitally. “Arcana Imperii” is available as an instant download with digital pre-orders of the album.

AUSTIN, TEXAS’ FROM BEYOND TO RELEASE DEBUT ALBUM THE BAND FROM BEYOND ON APRIL 20 VIA CANDLELIGHT
FIRST TRACK “THE SLIP” IS STREAMING NOW – LISTEN
From Beyond are otherworldly and ominous. The music on their Candlelight debut lives up to the implications of the Texas band’s moniker. Sonically, the quartet-Rob [guitars, vocals, synthesizers], Dave [guitar, effects], Brooks [bass, synthesizers, vocals], and Anthony [drums, vocals]-gracefully resemble an orchestra of Kyuss, Soundgarden, and Rush, as if they were conducted by John Carpenter.
The band will release its full-length debut The Band From Beyond on April 20 via Candlelight Records. The first single “The Slip” premiered at Metal Injection.
The track rolls forward full steam ahead, powered by a rollicking riff and hypnotic howl. It’s colored by a swell of spacey synths and culminates in a powerful chant.
On their debut, From Beyond wanted to do something that was steeped in psychedelic horror. They did so by fusing movie elements from the late ’60s and early ’70s. “Films like Simon King of the Witches, Psychomania, and the work of Coffin Joe come to mind. At the same time, I love the scores for Escape from New York and Halloween. I got really into that sparse and minimal approach to synthesis. I wanted to bring those elements to music inspired by Queens of the Stone Age, Sleep, and the writing of H.P. Lovecraft,” frontman Rob McCarthy explains.
In order to capture that combination, the band hunkered down in an Austin, Texas studio with The Sword bassist Bryan Richie in the producer’s chair. Over the course of seven days, they tracked the 14 songs comprising The Band From Beyond, utilizing everything from guitars to vintage analog synths and mellotron.
The album is available for pre-order HERE.
