Most of you who have followed my scribblings and radio shows over the years know I have a very eclectic taste in music, That I only tend to write on music I am really passionate about. Music that lifts my spirits and to be honest this Native Spirit EP from Ida Elena makes my spirits soar.
Ida Elena who hails from Rome, Italy has an amazing vocal presence and a musical career and back catalogue of different styles that will put most singers to shame ranging from folk and celtic to even having fronted Metal bands. She has been a firm favourite of mine since I first came across her with Firebrand a few years ago.
This Ep is a prelude to what is to come in the new year when she releases her new album (Can’t wait to hear it). The five tracks are primarily Celtic in influence and follow a natural flowing progression that makes each track a pleasure to listen to over and over again.
Runes In My Pocket
Till My Last Breath
All the tracks are in English except Folliapoesia and beautifully delivered. For me the EP makes my mind drift to the hills of Scotland and the gorgeous scenery of the mountains.
My stand out track on this EP? I am torn between Runes and Butterfly. Well to be honest all the tracks stand out perfectly on this exceptional EP.
